It's great to see the bus service running through the centre of Whitwick again. I spoke to Jackie back in April when she was campaigning to reinstate this vital connection after the route was cut.
Having been running again for just over a month now, I wanted to catch up with and thank Jackie for her hard work in helping to make this happen!
If you've not already used the service you can find out more information on the bus route and timetable here: www.arrivabus.co.uk/find-a-service/12-coalville-to-whitwick ... See MoreSee Less

Highfields Street Update!
Following my letter drop earlier this week I just wanted to detail some further progress for residents:
💡The floodlights have now been disconnected to reduce light pollution.
🔌The noisy generator is now out of use following completion of the mains connection to site.
🚘Highfield Street cleaning is scheduled (see below for details, Lovells will be providing full information via a letter drop too).
- 14th February, left hand side of Highfield Street, looking up from Standard Hill.
- 22nd February, right hand side of Highfield Street, looking up from Standard Hill.
🚧Drainage works from Leicestershire County Council are scheduled for the end of this month on St Saviours Road, St Faiths Drive, St Vincents Close before connecting across Highfield Street over easter.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with my team and I if we can support in any further ways, you can email [email protected] or call my office on 01530 569010. ... See MoreSee Less

Great news 🙌🏼
Massive clean up required for the whole of Highfield street/gutteridge street area. It’s a disgrace and nothing ever gets done. Don’t they have those little street cleaning machines any more? I shouldn’t have to keep cleaning up the endless rubbish that appears.
Trying to run a business on Highfield Street is impossible, 11 years we have been here, and the past 5 have been intolerable. The continuing road closures, roadworks, noise, messc and now the lack of consideration in regards to our driveway and road visability for anyone leaving our premises is extremely dangerous, which is even worse at night. We have lost custom and a child nearly knocked off a scooter as a driver couldn't see them on the road. LCC Highways advise was "With regards to visibility concerns due to parked vehicles, we can only advise that extreme care and attention is needed by drivers and pedestrians when emerging from places where there may occasionally be restricted visibility and may involve winding down the window and listening for approaching vehicles. It is the responsibility of all road users to be aware of parked vehicles and to take appropriate action when required" Cyclists, electric vehicles, scooters, or mobility scooters make little noise so this isn't really appropriate.

I have received numerous emails concerning excessive service charges, inadequate maintenance, and poor communication from agents like FirstPort.
I have joined my colleagues in signing a letter to FirstPort about their unreasonable service charges, poor performance, and lack of transparency in communicating with residents.
It’s time for real change to protect leaseholders. ... See MoreSee Less

Amanda Hack MP we have emailed you several times on behalf of 143 householders in relation to FirstPort. Would be grateful for contact
Hi Amanda there are similar issues happening with another management company for a so called social housing company. I will arrange an appointment with you thanks Gareth. Things really do need to change it is very concerning the lack of accountability. Trying to speak with the appropriate person is like going down a rabbit hole blindfolded. Thanks
This bad practice is a common widespread occurrence - something needs to be done asap - I have emailed you about seeing you in your surgery regarding LH a few weeks ago now. Let’s hope LH (amongst other bad way to faux buy a home is a thing of the past) and real soon.

The Water (Special Measures) Bill will introduce tough new powers that allow the regulators to take tougher, faster action to crack down on water company bosses who damage the environment and fail their customers.
Although I was too unwell to attend the final (3rd) reading and votes last week, it was fantastic to work with colleagues on the Bill committee stage and to vote for these new powers at every previous stage of its journey through the House.
As the bill was introduced via the Lords, it’s now back in the Lords today for its final stages.

Thanks for the help with Severn Trent Amanda
De-privatise all the utilities. There shouldn't have to be a bill to force the greedy to do the right thing
Sorry not on this subject but can you sign the EDM condemning Trump's ethnic cleansing of Gaza and redeveloping as a resort owned by the USA? The man is insane and our government must stand up against this nonsense. Thanks 🌹
I spoke recently about the importance of the new Deposit Return Scheme, highlighting the often overlooked work of our volunteer litter pickers, including Castle Donington Litter Wombles, who battle to keep our communities tidy.
Once the scheme launches in October 2027, there will be a financial incentive to return empty containers to a collection point, such as at local supermarkets, so that the bottle or can will be recycled.
This is a proven concept, used in over 50 countries to increase recycling rates and reduce littering. ... See MoreSee Less

Fair play Amanda but as a country Why are we getting excited ? This is all a big cover up since 2018 What about the 25 billion drinks containers alone being buried , burned or littered in the meantime until 2027, are we allowing this to just ‘ happen ‘? Pride in Britain or price in Britain ay ?
I hate all the litter. People shouldn't throw litter anywhere and if we see people doing it we certainly have a few words with them. But we are paying our council tax to collect our recyclable refuse. Why do you need to cart it to a recycling area at a supermarket? Again if people exercised their brains there wouldn't be any need for litter.
One mistake is categorising this material as waste. It should be regarded as valuable raw material. As such, recovering it in clean condition via a deposit scheme is much more efficient than scavenging it from roadside ditches.

It was lovely visit to Broom Leys Primary School last week, which is one of the largest primary schools in the constituency.
During their visit to Parliament last year, I regrettably didn’t get the opportunity to meet the second Year 6 class to answer their questions, so it was a pleasure to finally meet them. They asked a number of fantastic questions about the environment and even whether I’d managed to meet The King yet!
I’m already looking forward to visiting again in the future and hosting other groups of children from the school in Parliament ... See MoreSee Less

Gaza children can't go to school because thanks to the IDF, UK and US their schools are all destroyed with many of the children and their families buried under the rubble. Your government and in oarticular Keir Starmer and David Lammy are war criminals and they know it. Furthermore they are criminals in this country according to our laws. You know all of this and stand with them. Israel is an Apartheid State according to the ICJ and the UNGA. There are 2 arrest warrants for Israeli war criminals in particular Netanyahu who is the Head of the first country that will be found guilty of genocide. Only God will help us all then.
Not so run down like Holy Cross is it...
Supermarkets claim to support UK farmers, yet their actions suggest otherwise.
Farmers and growers play a vital role in ensuring the UK’s food sustainability, yet they are not receiving a fair deal from the supermarkets. This situation has persisted for years and has gone unchallenged for far too long.
It is unjust that farmers often earn just 1p profit from the food items they produce, while supermarkets make excessive profits. This concern has been clearly communicated to me by our local farmers here in North West Leicestershire during several meetings with them.
Farmers deserve a fair deal, and consumers deserve honesty and transparency ... See MoreSee Less

Support Farmers to feed the country!!
I agree with what you say. Although admittedly it's not abundantly clear that the Labour Party (or the Conservative Party for that matter) support farmers either.
supermarkets turned many farms into slave workers especially after centralised functions such as the milk marketing board had been closed down allowing supermarkets to dictate prices despite in some cases paying less than it cost to produce the milk. Supermarkets have repeatedly made profits off the backs of its suppliers; many of these suppliers are bust and a number have taken their own lives having been bullied into a corner where they stood to lose everything!

I have co-signed Grahame Morris MP's letter to the Rt Hon Darren Jones MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, calling for urgent action to address the unfairness faced by members of the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme (BCSSS).
Thanks to the Labour government’s historic decision to transfer the £1.5 billion Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme reserve, around 1,500 former miners and their families have already seen a much-needed boost to their pensions.
I am urging the government to:
✅Waive the final £2.3 billion payment from the BCSSS reserve, thereby ensuring fairer pensions for members who served in essential roles within the coal industry.
It’s time to deliver parity for everyone in our coalfield communities. ... See MoreSee Less

How about supporting the WASPI women?
Interesting that another local MP close to your constituency didn’t sign this in an area that was part of the mining industry. My dad worked in the pits for many years including Donisthorpe. Let’s hope the government do the right thing after all these years.
One of the few correct steps undertaken in the last budget and well overdue … I hope you adopt the same stance or even transact a stance to reverse the anticipated change in how pensions will be inherited … Not saying the decision should be completely reversed … But the blanket approach used by our Chancellor and Treasury is poorly advised And the same relates to Farming … and industry / profession which large portion of your constituency … they need your ear and support ..
