A look forward to 2026
Over the past year, alongside colleagues in the Labour Rural Research Group (LRRG), I’ve continued to work closely with local farmers. I’ve met with more than 50 farmers across North West Leicestershire and have consistently pressed the Government to rethink its Inheritance and Property relief proposals.

Wishing my constituents a Happy Easter.
For Christians around the world Easter Sunday is a key part of the Christian Calendar it is a time to reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice and the promise of eternal life. The resurrection is seen as a cornerstone of Christianity, bringing hope and redemption.
For others who do not practice the Christian faith it’s a time to pause, spend time with family and friends. ... See MoreSee Less

From my local roundtables with families with experience of the SEND system, I know parents want their child to get the right support closer to home rather than having to travel long distances to get the education they deserve.
This Labour government is investing to make that a reality, providing Leicestershire County Council with over £11m to create specialist places in both our mainstream schools and specialist provision.
Our amazing local schools work so hard now with very limited resources to support those with additional needs. I know this significant uplift will go a long way to helping provide a better environment for local kids.
I am hosting another roundtable on the SEND white paper in Ashby on Saturday 25th April, you can register your interest here: www.amandahack.com/campaigns/send-roundtable-march-april-2026/

The National Forest should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can drive.
Right now, too many people are forced onto the roads simply to visit one of our most important natural assets. That’s not good enough.
We need better transport options, such as reinstating passenger rail services, so more people can enjoy it without relying on a car.
Moira is the official heart of the National Forest and that is based in North West Leicestershire, the partnership between North West Leicestershire District Council and the National Forest Company is one to be proud of.

I’m really pleased to share that this week I’ve been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Sir Alan Campbell, Leader of the House of Commons.
For those wondering what this means, a PPS is an MP who supports a member of the government with their work in Parliament. It offers valuable experience working closely with the government.
The Leader of the House of Commons has one of the broadest roles in Parliament, organising government business, setting the agenda and answering questions from MPs each week on any topic.
Importantly, this new role does not change my commitment to North West Leicestershire. I will continue to be just as available and dedicated to representing you as I have since July 2024. ... See MoreSee Less

I raised the Ivanhoe Line again last week during a debate on rail connections between rural towns and London.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing clips from that debate, including the questions I put to the Minister and the broader points I made about public transport in North West Leicestershire.
Many of you continue to share your experiences of public transport with me, and that’s why I’ll keep pushing this issue, both locally and nationally in Parliament.
I’ll also be following up with the Minister on the specific points I raised. ... See MoreSee Less
