It was good to catch up with Rebecca Middleton this week. Rebecca is the founder of Hereditary Brain Aneurysm Support, based in #ashbydelazouch.
With so many people suffering with a Brain Aneurysm every year this amazing charity is working hard to push for more awareness, funding and support. It’s always lovely to meet with local organisations in Parliament. It was a pleasure to meet with Rebecca from Hereditary Brain Aneurysm Support, based in Ashby, at the Rare Disease Day Reception last week.
Their research identifies the alarming disparities and inequalities in care, with familial brain aneurysms remaining significantly under-addressed within the UK health system.
I look forward to further discussions on widening the screening pathway to include patients with familial aneurysms.

Thank you Amanda, we look forward to working with you to support our community
Thank you Amanda Hack MP. As a community we are underrepresented and unheard. We truly appreciate your understanding, your sincere interest and your amazing support. Thank you for taking the time and taking action. We feel heard and understood. Together we can drive change. Thank you 🩵
For so many young people, training and apprenticeships offer a route to good skills, and qualifications in key industries. That’s why we’re working hard to expand access to these opportunities, so every young person can build a future they’re proud of.
It's also important that we create upskilling opportunities for those who need to change careers and retrain, ensuring they aren't left behind in a rapidly changing job market and can thrive in new roles.Today we're launching skills reforms that will create 120,000 new training opportunities as part of our Plan for Change.
These radical plans will address national skills shortages and encourage more young people to take up apprenticeships 👷🏼♀️🧑🏾💼

Stop lying. You’re cutting funding for apprenticeships that provide some of the very minimal social mobility left. scrapping higher apprenticeships for those over 21 is a shameful act, you should be embarrassed.
Be careful! Labour also wants AI to take all the jobs, even though it’s a failing industry! www.theverge.com/news/674366/nick-clegg-uk-ai-artists-policy-letter?utm_content=buffer68ce9&utm_m...
Lovely to open Ibstock Bowls Club’s charity gala in partnership with Sands United FC Ashby as part of the Bowls Big Weekend.
A day brought together from an idea of these two great local clubs sitting together at a sporting awards event November last year.
Fantastic to hear they managed to raise £1362.95! And will donate this to Sands a charity supporting families who have suffered a devastating pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
You can find out more about this charity here.

Matt Buckley ....you literally get everywhere don't you
I'm sorry but now we're all trapped in the handcart, and it's getting hotter & hotter, the last thing we want is an MP on £100 grand a year getting bogged down with local issues!! MPs should be both savvy enough to know the priorities of their constituents, and bright enough to be able to tell the handcart driver when it's patently obvious that he's taking everybody in totally in the wrong direction!! No offence here to Ibstock Bowls Club btw- such institutions are invaluable -especially in times like these!!!

I hope the funding for NHS prescriptions are under review. All local pharmacies are essential for all of us. They work hard and their business needs to be viable. Thanks Amanda for working with this.
Amanda when will the government openly criticise the genocide being committed by Israel? Not only are they murdering innocent people they are also bulldozing any habitable areas including farmland into rubble so Donald trump gets his dream of a middle eastern playground for the wealthy.
A busy and productive week in Parliament, here is a snapshot of just 4 things below:
From championing local causes to supporting national campaigns, I’ve been working hard to represent North West Leicestershire.
💬 Spoke up in the Chamber
⚡ Visited National Grid in Castle Donington with the Energy Minister for Consumers
💜 Met with the Epilepsy Society
👥 Engaged with the Mineworkers Pension Scheme Trustees
This is alongside my responsibilities on the Work and Pensions Select Committee, where I attended a private round table on the Pathways to Work Inquiry as well as the first public panel with the Education Select Committee on the Child Poverty Inquiry. ... See MoreSee Less

All very worthy, what about pensioner poverty ?
Voted against artists being able to keep copyright on works and allowing AI companies to steal information. Don’t forget to tell everyone that!
Well done! and thank you for representing NWLC local issues.

Whilst there has been rapid expansion of new homes across North West Leicestershire, the development of sports facilities and green spaces in places such as Ashby and Hugglescote aren’t keeping pace.
Today I asked the Minister in the Department for Culture Media and Sport, how we can ensure that as we build, we also protect and invest in the parks and pitches that bring our communities together.
I will continue working with all stakeholders to improve access to facilities for local people right across our area. ⚽🌳 ... See MoreSee Less

And yet you seem to support the building of the East Midlands Freeport which will concrete over 250 acres of agricultural farmland which will also increase the flooding of Diseworth : /
What about investing in more Dr's surgeries, Schools and having fully operational community hospitals???
Absolutely agree as you know Ashby Ivanhoe FC can only benefit from your influence & support. Your help can mean increased participation & enjoyment for so many, please keep speaking up for us 💙⚽️👍

🚨Record Crackdown on Illegal Sewage Dumping🚨
➡️ 81 criminal investigations launched
➡️ 400 new inspectors hired to hold polluters to account
➡️ 7 court cases already underway
Complaints about sewage dumping in local waterways often arise on the doorstep. Many sites in and around our towns and villages are being ruined by sewage dumping. Cleaning up our rivers and brooks is one of my top priorities.
I’m fully behind the moves to crack down on water companies that fail communities and foul the environment.
I am proud to have been on the bill committee and vote in favour of the Water (Special Measures) Bill, which is now law, meaning water boses can now face up to 5 years in jail and allows fines of hundreds of millions.

Thank you for taking our local complaints seriously and persisting with this Amanda Hack MP.
Amanda isn’t it about time that you quit your ‘Nero Tribute Act’ as, whilst you busy yourself with local irrelevance, you seem to be blissfully unaware that your boss is ‘taking us all to hell in a handcart’!! You voted for the scrapping of WFA, you voted for no action on the evil Pakistani gang rapists, you were silent when The Chagos Islands were gifted to Mauritius and no doubt you’re ok with both Gibraltar being handed back to Spain and the brainlessness of an about turn on Brexit!!!! Just remember – nearly 7000 of your own constituents have had enough and want you gone!! And that’s just the computer literate ones that signed the petition for an early election – is it any wonder though as with both inflation ‘on fire’ and Angela Rayner suggesting that ‘Rachel from Accounts’ should now get her hands on our pension pots – it just gets worse & worse!!! As for ‘”smashing the gangs” nothing has happened has it so our country is being invaded almost daily with towns being turned into ‘no-go’ areas, added pressure on our NHS and a crime rate that has fast become almost unmanageable now that diversity has weakened our police force. When Churchill was threatened by an invasion from across the channel he acted positively and his ‘bulldog spirit’ won us the war – but he gets no thanks from Starmer does he – all he gets is his portrait stuffed in the cellar at no 10!! It’s a disgrace - the man is an insult to all that is British and all that we have worked for - and the sooner his own MPs wake up and tell him so then the sooner we might see sanity prevail.
The C suite needs thinning and people held to account for serious breaches that as likely could lead to major health issues for those who use the river recreationally
