⚽️ What a brilliant Saturday at Ingles FC!
It was fantastic to spend time at Ingles FC last weekend alongside the Premier League and to see the Premier League Trophy up close too. 🏆 The atmosphere was brilliant and we were treated to a 4-goal thriller. It was a real celebration of grassroots football at its best... and it was impossible for me not to mention it in the House earlier this week!
A huge thank you to all the incredible volunteers who give so much of their time to keep Ingles FC thriving, your dedication is what makes clubs like this the heart of our community. It was lovely to also be at one of your inclusive sessions a couple of weeks prior. Thank you for the invitation and for all you do for our community.
I’m also really grateful to the Premier League for their £45,000 grant, which has helped upgrade the club’s floodlights to modern LED lighting, improving facilities for players, volunteers and supporters alike, whilst helping reduce the clubs bills.
Investments like this make a real difference to local clubs and help ensure grassroots football continues to grow. 👏⚽️

Violence against women and girls is a national emergency, so I welcome the action taken by the Government yesterday to confront it head on.
The new Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy sets out bold measures to better protect children from misogyny and abuse, with a strong focus on healthy relationships, consent and early prevention. Alongside this, it strengthens the tools available to our police forces and expands the support offered to victims.
The strategy will help keep the next generation of girls and boys safer, while guiding boys and young men away from harmful misogynistic influences, including toxic online figures who radicalise young people with extreme views, anger and a sense of victimhood.
This work with children and young people forms part of a wider, cross-government mission: the largest crackdown on violence against women and girls in British history, with a clear commitment to halving these crimes within a decade.
