Good news for new property occupants!
Back in March, I co-sponsored a 10-minute rule bill on unadopted estates (Housing Estates Bill). I’m really pleased that the Minister has now announced that two-thirds of the bill’s proposals will be taken forward through consultations on how to reduce the use of private estate management arrangements.
I know how frustrating unadopted estates can be for local people. I have already worked on behalf of residents across North West Leicestershire, including in Kegworth, raising concerns about new developments where people are left with unfinished roads, inadequate drainage, and high, opaque management fees.
The Housing Minister has now announced two consultations to:
Protect people from unfair charges.
Stop estates being left unadopted.
This is a key step towards ending fleecehold and giving residents a better deal. You can have your say via the links below:

I managed to speak about the lack of local bus provision across North West Leicestershire again recently, this time highlighting the long-gone services that used to connect Heather with Ibstock and other local areas. (Link to the full speech in the comments)
I'm aware that Arriva have recently announced some further changes to services in North West Leicestershire, and I want to hear what this means for you. Please drop me an email with your thoughts on the changes that are coming in April to [email protected]. (You can view the changes here: www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/improving-our-services-for-nw-leicestershire
I will continue battling for better buses from private operators and Leicestershire County Council. We are giving them the cash and powers to enhance and protect our services for communities like Heather. For too long, our communities have been disconnected bus route by bus route.
