Defib dash register
What is the Defib Dash?
This is a community audit taking place between 17th – 23rd November that you can get involved in! All you need to do is find your nearest publicly accessible Defibrillator and “Dash” to it (you could walk, run or cycle, just don’t use your car!), timing your journey. You can find your nearest Defib here: https://www.defibfinder.uk/
By ‘dashing’ to your nearest defibrillator and timing your journey, you will help shine a light on the ‘defib deserts’ that exist in our area.
Too many of our neighbourhoods are without quick access to life-saving defibrillators, and that gap can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency.
The aim of the Defib Dash isn’t just to highlight where defibs are missing, but to get all of us thinking about a few key questions:
- How far away is your nearest defibrillator?
- Could someone get to it quickly in an emergency?
- Where else in your community might one be needed most?
Through this campaign, I also want people to familiarise themselves with The Circuit – the national defibrillator network. It’s a crucial tool that ensures emergency services can quickly locate a nearby defib when every second counts. So, when you’re taking part during the week, I encourage you to also check whether the defibs are correctly registered on The Circuit. Find your nearest defib here: https://www.defibfinder.uk/
I hope this inspires you to continue championing the need for more accessible and visible defibrillators in our local communities. Together, we’re taking steps—quite literally—toward building a safer and more responsive North West Leicestershire.
