The Labour Government is providing £500,000 in grants to boost Armed Forces Day celebrations across the country, with up to £10,000 available per event.
Armed Forces Day activities can range from community picnics and barbecues to live music, parades, stalls hosted by local military units or veterans’ associations, hands‑on experiences, and talks from inspiring service personnel.
Events can be organised by anyone, and every year, hundreds of councils, schools, sports clubs, community groups and charities host gatherings that bring people together in support of our Armed Forces.
Grant funding can help cover costs such as road closures, event branding and decorations, advertising, stewards and security, insurance, PA systems and communication equipment.
Find out more and apply by 30th March via the link below: www.armedforcesday.org.uk/.../organise-your-own.../ ... See MoreSee Less

I managed to speak about the lack of local bus provision across North West Leicestershire again recently, this time highlighting the long-gone services that used to connect Heather with Ibstock and other local areas. (Link to the full speech in the comments)
I'm aware that Arriva have recently announced some further changes to services in North West Leicestershire, and I want to hear what this means for you. Please drop me an email with your thoughts on the changes that are coming in April to [email protected]. (You can view the changes here: www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/improving-our-services-for-nw-leicestershire
I will continue battling for better buses from private operators and Leicestershire County Council. We are giving them the cash and powers to enhance and protect our services for communities like Heather. For too long, our communities have been disconnected bus route by bus route. ... 🌾 Backing our farmers
At this weeks National Farmers Union (NFU) conference Emma Reynolds, the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, announced how we are backing our farmers:
✅ An updated Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) that’s simpler and fairer, with priority for small farms.
✅ Over £345 million in grants to back sustainable farming, new equipment, innovation and infrastructure.
✅ A new consultation on vet visits to strengthen animal health and welfare.
I'm committed to supporting our local farmers, which is why I'm taking part in the NFU's fellowship scheme this year to continue learning more about this vital industry and why I have met with so many local farmers since being elected.
This is about backing British farmers, supporting rural communities like ours, and building a more sustainable future for agriculture.

Busy day today so far. I’ve met with constituents from across the area at a couple of different meetings, discussing things from job support to Banking Hubs!
I’m also aware of a number of flooding issues across the constituency today following heavy rain overnight. Some flood alerts remain in place, you can check these here: check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/alerts-and-warnings?ext=-1.424411,52.6581,-1.320595,52.771562
I’ve already spoken with Severn Trent Water, Leicestershire County Council and the Environment Agency about specific areas and their response.
Please report any flooding to LCC as the lead flood authority here: www.leicestershire.gov.uk/environment-and-planning/flooding-and-drainage
Please take extra care when out on the roads today. ... See MoreSee Less

I'm really pleased to see that Leicestershire County Council have decided NOT to close the specialist SEND nurseries across the county following the strength of feeling from residents across Leicestershire.
I heard from a number of constituents who contacted me to raise their concerns that the possible closures further disregard the struggles faced by parents and guardians of SEND children.
Having met with the Chief Executive of Menphys to listen to the impact that these closures will have on Leicestershire residents, inside and outside of my constituency, I submitted my response based on those experiences of my constituents.
This was another example of unwarranted cuts by the current administration at county hall. That follows cuts announced to the School Food Service earlier this year and allowing our bus routes in North West Leicestershire to be cut, despite extra government funding. ... See MoreSee Less

Through an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill, our Labour Government will require tech companies to remove non-consensual intimate images within 48 hours of them being flagged. Companies that fail to act will face serious consequences, including fines of up to 10% of their global revenue or even having their service blocked in the UK.
Platforms will be required to proactively detect and remove abusive intimate images, treating this material with the same seriousness as child sexual abuse and terrorist content.
For victims, the process will be simpler and stronger. You will only need to report an image once. After that, it will be removed across multiple platforms and automatically blocked from being re-uploaded.
Ofcom is also considering measures to digitally mark these images so they can be automatically detected and taken down if they reappear online.
We will also issue guidance to internet providers to block access to rogue websites hosting this content.
No one should face intimidation or distress because of repeated intimate image abuse. We are acting to make the online world safer, and to ensure those who fail to protect people are held accountable. ... See MoreSee Less
