Over the past year, alongside colleagues in the Labour Rural Research Group (LRRG), I’ve continued to work closely with local farmers. I’ve met with more than 50 farmers across North West Leicestershire and have consistently pressed the Government to rethink its Inheritance and Property relief proposals.

💧 We are delivering the biggest shake-up of the water industry in a generation.
Earlier this week, the Government set out plans in the Water White Paper to tackle years of failure by water companies, with tough new powers to clean up our rivers, protect households from disruption, and hold companies to account.
We’ve seen these failures first hand recently.
In Coalville alone, there have been at least three burst water pipes in the last couple of weeks, alongside record sewage pumping into our waterways in Hugglescote over the last few years.
🚫This cannot continue.
This major shake-up will include:
✅ ‘MOT-style’ checks for pipes, pumps and infrastructure
✅ A smart meter rollout to cut waste and help lower bills
✅ A new regulator with real teeth
✅ Surprise and no-notice inspections for failing companies
✅ Stronger powers to step in fast when companies fail
This is about ending repeated chaos, protecting our environment, and making water companies work for the public again. ... See MoreSee Less

🚆 News on the Ivanhoe Line! 🚆
I’ve secured a Westminster Hall Debate on restoring the Ivanhoe Line, due to take place on Wednesday 28th January.
This type of debate lets MPs put local issues directly to the Government and get a Minister’s response on the record. No vote, but a powerful way to push for action and keep the pressure on.
This is a real step forward for the campaign to restore the Ivanhoe Line.
💬 Have your say:
So many of you shared your views on the Ivanhoe Line as part of my Transport Survey, and I want to hear from you again. Let me know what you think in the comments below or drop me an email to [email protected]👇 ... See MoreSee Less
