129 and 125 Bus Service Update!
I am really pleased to say that I have today had confirmation that the 129 service will continue to run following new agreements that Leicestershire County Council have now reached. This follows the recent announcement that Diamond Buses intended to cancel the service. The new operator, Arriva, will take over the route on 2nd June with slight timetable tweaks, which will be available next week.
Diamond were due to cease running the 125 Service from 2nd June; however, this has been extended until 14th July to allow Leicestershire County Council to begin re-tendering this service. I will share any additional information on the 125 route as soon as this is available to me.
As a government, we are committed to safeguarding our bus services, which is why we have already provided an additional £8 million to Leicestershire County Council to help end the postcode lottery when it comes to our local buses.
