Our very own Amanda Hack MP on Sunday morning telly…

Hooray! Great info Amanda!!!

My constituents know more than most just how long it takes a community to recover from being at the heart of national industry, to losing that status. Steel to Scunthorpe is as Coal was to Coalville.

For Scunthorpe to lose its industry as we lost ours would have a devastating impact on not just the thousands of workers but also the neighbouring communities. I commend the Government for the swift actions that have been taken to not just ensure that thousands of jobs and a vital industry are saved, but that very industrial heritage is protected.

Good news but can they do anything for Port Talbot ? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

But what’s it been saved for? Maybe war armaments? What’s going to be the cost of running it? Where’s the money come from, oh the benefits cuts maybe?

Not so important to the Tories, opposition members not even in attendance.

Today, Parliament has been recalled to debate the Steel Industry (Special Measures) Bill.

The Bill grants the government the authority to direct steel companies in England, which will be used to protect the Scunthorpe British Steel site. It enables the UK government to preserve capabilities and ensure public safety.

Additionally, it ensures all options remain available for the future of the plant and the livelihoods it supports.

Labour have no choice but to support virgin steel making facilities in the UK. The World is changing rapidly and as we all know defence spending is increasing and will keep increasing as there are plenty of nasty people out there, virgin steel being the base ingredient of military capability. It will be interesting to see how government pays for this? If we were a company as opposed to a country we'd be trading as insolvents, this has been created over many decades. We are still borrowing billions a month 8.3 Bn in Dec 2024 as opposed to 4.5 bn in 2025.

Our Amanda doing what she goes best with helping the government with trying to keep and sustain jobs for the workers and their families. She does NWL proud ! Well done Amanda for highlighting this debate. I know this is not our constituency but it’s a big part of our country and such a huge issue.

Labour...actually being Labour for once

This week, Neonatal Care Leave and Pay will finally be available to families as a day one right. This will provide parents and caregivers of premature and sick babies with the time they desperately need.

Last year I met with Willesley Primary School and Catriona Ogilvy of The Smallest Things to discuss this exact issue and the benefits of being a prem-aware school for both local parents, children and staff.

It's important we ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive and help breakdown barriers to their future opportunities.

Overpaid bosses bills getting higher with leaks not being fixed and sewage being dumped ... we have spent hours trying to speak to a human at water company as my mum not online and needs a meter as her rates are ridiculous she has been paying alot more than our family of 4 ... crap service

Vote yes to bring Steel under Public Ownership

British Steel should always be kept operational in the UK and under public ownership. It is part of our critical infrastructure. Should do the same for Port Talbot. The supply chain all the way from China is the only outcome if we do not protect it.

Public Ownership. Stop foreign owners taking all the profits in dividends and put that money into infrastructure and clean our rivers and beaches.

So Labour got trounced in the by election in Manchester. Reform got nearly 50% of the vote in a Labour stronghold. "Start the car".

Updated with a direct link to the detail on the Department for Health and Social Care.

More good news about getting support into our NHS!

This time, we have recruited 1,500 more GPs since October. It was fantastic to hear from the North West Leicestershire GP Federation and local GPs yesterday that those recruited locally have settled in well, contributing to the communities healthcare needs.

To recap, in case you missed any of our NHS updates:

✅ Two million extra appointments
✅ Waiting lists cut by 193,000
✅ Over 1,500 extra GPs recruited

Where from, why have they waited until now to join the GP practices. Something doesn't add up

For those of you saying "where from" or "how" it's fairly simple... The funding for GP Practices from the last government actually prevented surgeries from using that money to hire actual GP'S. Whereas that red tape has now been removed and around 1000 newly qualified GP's who were facing unemployment, can actually be employed. There was the same issue for Locum GP's who couldn't find work, because surgeries couldn't use their funding to hire locums either. Simple removal of a non sensical policy.

Thanks Amanda Hack MP , glad for the pointer to show the information about the NHS 🙂

So when will you and the Labour Party be supporting the candidate for Coalville South

Did you tell them a vote for labour, gets you a child rapists as a neighbour🤔🤔 I fail to believe that every female MP in the Labour party thinks it's right to protect the perpetrators of such twisted crimes. Every single one of you needs to have another look at what you stood for, and what your legacy will be. Supporting child rapists is NOT a great legacy to be proud off in my opinion.
