We promised to tackle crime and put 13,000 more officers on our streets across the UK, and that’s exactly what this Government is delivering.
Last year, we committed to deliver an additional 3,000 neighbourhood officers by the end of March 2026, and the latest figures show we achieved that target two months early.
I’m also really pleased that Leicestershire has seen the highest increase in the East Midlands, with 56 new officers, out of 120 across the region.
Our local neighbourhood teams work incredibly hard, and we will continue to back them with more officers, increased funding, and targeted initiatives – such as last year’s summer blitz, which we saw in Coalville and Ashby, to tackle town centre crime and keep our communities safe.
