We’ve hit a key NHS target by recruiting 8,500 extra mental health workers, including therapists, psychiatrists and mental health nurses, three years ahead of schedule.
Mental health care has been under huge pressure for far too long, with too many people waiting months for help. This investment is already making a difference by helping people get support earlier, before they reach crisis point.
We’ve also expanded mental health support in schools, with up to 900,000 more children now able to access help compared to this time last year.
There is still more to do, but this is real progress, investing in our NHS, strengthening community care through our Neighbourhood Health rollout, and making mental health a priority once again.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please do reach out. Support is there.
