We are doubling down on clean power to deliver energy security for families and businesses.
This Labour government has acted to bring energy bills down by 7% this month, locked in until the start of July. We’ve also taken urgent action to help homes reliant on heating oil and LPG, thanks to our work on the Labour Rural Research Group, working closely with the Treasury to voice the impact of rising prices and market volatility on you.
Yesterday we announced a package of measures that will help end our dependence on international fossil fuel markets and move faster towards cheap, clean power that we control.
That includes:
That’s alongside offering low-carbon electricity generators, which still rely on volatile global market prices, fixed price contracts to protect you when prices spike. This could cover around 30% of our current power supply.
With instability in the Middle East impacting people back here at home, there is only one route to energy security and national security, and that is going further and faster on clean homegrown power that we control.
