Following the recent flooding on Grace Dieu Road in Whitwick, Cllr Peter Moult and I have been working hard to support local residents with immediate action while also pressing for longer-term solutions.

I’m pleased to confirm that a full road clean of the affected areas has been carried out today by North West Leicestershire District Council, building on an earlier clean completed by a Severn Trent Water road sweeper.

After writing to Severn Trent Water, the Environment Agency and Leicestershire County Council, I’m also glad to say that a meeting has been secured for early in the new year to discuss future mitigation measures.

I will continue to keep local residents updated on any progress, as I have been doing throughout.
Leicestershire County Council are also scheduled to empty and cleanse the gully network before the end of next week (12th December).
