Labour Rural Research Group launches community consultation
As a founding member of the Labour Rural Research Group (LRRG), Amanda Hack calls on residents to participate in a vital consultation that will help shape future Labour policy.
The LRRG, formed to strengthen the Labour Party’s commitment and advocacy for rural areas, is launching its first major project. This national consultation aims to provide a broad overview of the key challenges and priorities affecting people living and working in the countryside.
Following the launch, Amanda Hack said:
“Having been part of this group since its inception, I’m proud of the work to highlight our countryside communities and ensure they are at the heart of the national conversation. This work is about more than just identifying problems; it’s about building practical, progressive solutions that reflect the realities of rural life. Areas such as North West Leicestershire must play a crucial role in delivering our ambitious growth mission and drive for better infrastructure.
Our communities have long felt overlooked or misunderstood by national politics. This is a crucial first step in changing that. It gives people the chance to share their lived experiences and shape real, evidence-based policies that support rural economies, protect vital services, and help our communities thrive. Whether it’s access to healthcare, transport, jobs, housing or sustainable farming, we want to hear directly from those living it every day.”
The consultation, which is open until mid-July, is anonymous and takes just a few minutes to complete. The findings will form the basis of the group’s first report, due before Parliamentary recess and build a robust, evidence-based policy platform that reflects the lived realities of rural life.

I was delighted to be part of the official opening of Coalville Post Office on Friday, restoring an important service to the town centre.
It’s also great to see Krishan Joshi return as Postmaster for Coalville. When I first met him after the closure of the Ashby Road branch, he shared his vision to bring these services back to Marlborough Square, and I was pleased to support his efforts.
The Post Office provides vital services, from parcels to banking and acts as a hub for local trade. It’s fantastic to see it once again at the heart of our community.
Post Office opening times
Mon - Fri 09:00 – 17:30
Saturday 09:00 – 12:30
Sunday Closed
Services include but are not limited too:
✅ Drop & Go
✅ Parcelforce Express Services
✅ Post & Go
✅ Pay Bills and Top up
✅ Passport Applications
✅ Vehicle Tax

It was good to be at this great annual concert to listen such talented musicians at the Holy Trinity.
Such a wonderful arrangement this year.
My father in law played pipes and drums with the Seaforth pipeband for years before retiring from the band, so it’s always good to hear them play.
Congratulations to Brian Senton and all the volunteers who make this such a special event to mark Remembrance.
