It was brilliant to be with so many amazing Women for the renewal of our Women’s Health Strategy earlier this week in Westminster.
Too many women have had their symptoms brushed aside or dismissed altogether because of long-standing bias in healthcare. That needs to change.
This Labour Government’s Women’s Health Strategy aims to confront these issues head-on and ensure women and girls are properly heard and supported within the healthcare system.
Key points include:
Helping women see the right specialist sooner, with shorter waiting times, so conditions like endometriosis are diagnosed and treated more quickly
Updating standards around pain management so women receive appropriate and effective relief during invasive gynaecological procedures
Investing £1 million in better menstrual education, alongside improved access to contraception and abortion services
That’s alongside using women’s feedback to shape funding and drive improvements, ensuring services are accountable for listening and responding to women’s needs.
